Why Welding Fumes Assessment is Required?

A person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) has a duty to manage the risks to health and safety when employees are undertaking various welding activities and likely to exposed to welding fumes including various metal oxides. PCBU must ensure that employees exposures to welding fumes and metal oxides are below the exposure standards set by Work Safe Australia and as low as reasonably practicable.

Air monitoring should be conducted if there is a risk to a worker’s health.
